The Bristol, Plainville and Plymouth Pequabuck River Flooding Study was completed in 2015 to address flooding that had restrained development and recovery along the river after Hurricane Irene in 2011. Its findings are honest and inconvenient: although hoped for by all three communities, the study did not identify any single project that would provide significant mitigation for all three, and it demonstrated that dredging is not cost-effective as a flood risk reduction method. For a Plymouth owner that means there is no engineering fix waiting in the wings, so mitigation at the building is the part still under your control.

As of 2020 there were 42 DEEP-inventoried dams within Plymouth, ten of them rated Significant or High Hazard Potential.
