What Happened

Behind and around it, 50 square feet of visible mould was cleaned and removed directly, and 250 square feet was HEPA vacuumed in detail, which is the area that actually needed attention once the panelling was off and the extent could be seen properly. A plant based antimicrobial agent was applied across 300 square feet. Four 24 hour negative air periods ran with an additional HEPA filter on the exhaust fan, inside 200 square feet of containment, and equipment was decontaminated per piece three times across the job.
In a basement where the affected material is being pulled off a wall in an enclosed space, that filtration is doing most of the protective work. Nothing was put back. No new panelling, drywall or insulation was installed, and no testing, air sampling or clearance testing was performed. The wall was handed back open and cleaned, which is the right state to leave it in until the moisture source behind it has been understood. Refinishing a basement wall before that question is answered simply rebuilds the same cavity.
