What Happened
The tell in this Wallingford home was a dark band running along the base of the walls where they met the floor, the signature of moisture sitting low against the drywall rather than a leak coming from above. The rooms were measured before anything was cut, at roughly 260 square feet in the larger room and 180 square feet in the room under the kitchen, so the scope followed the actual affected footprint. With the wall bases open, the drop ceiling was pulled to expose the joists and subfloor above so nothing hidden was left behind. Why does mold grow in a line along the bottom of a wall?
